Website Questions:
- Question:
- What sources does Basket
City, USA ® use to acquire all of the baskets
& accessories posted on the site?
- Answer:
- We purchase baskets from many sources. Primarily,
we purchase large private collections that we have been able to personally
inspect for quality control purposes. As a general rule, these
collections come from the Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Pennsylvania
areas due to travel and shipping constraints. We also purchase baskets
at private and public auctions held in and around a 4-state area. Some
baskets arrive (indirectly) from the manufacturer via Independent Consultants
in the local area who sell us their samples after the sales period for
an item ends. Finally, we do purchase baskets from individuals who contact
us on the web site wishing to sell their baskets.
- Question:
- How do I post my baskets for
sale on the Basket City, USA® website?
- Answer:
- We are unable to post consignment sales on the website.
As a result - the baskets you see posted on our site are part
of a 4500++ retired basket inventory that is owned exclusively by
Basket City, USA. Because we guarantee all baskets we ship - we
do not accept consignment postings on the website (we cannot
guarantee something we have not inspected prior to shipping) - consignment
sales are limited exclusively to Ebay Auctions.
- Question:
- How do I sell baskets directly
to Basket City, USA® and what will they
pay me for my baskets?
- Answer:
- We do purchase baskets from individuals for resale.
The prices that we pay are
based upon current market conditions ~ (taking into consideration what we are able to acquire
the baskets for in the local secondary market). Individuals contacting
us need to understand that this website operates as a business.
We do not pay current Bentley prices
for something we intend to resell unless the item is rare and difficult
to locate. We pay a wholesale
price for baskets. We always suggest that prior
to submitting a priced listing to us - that buyers review our site
for current baskets that we already have posted - (and to note the prices
that are posted on the website do include insured shipping). We are certain
that you would acknowledge that it would not be a sound business practice
to BUY a basket at a price that is equal to or greater than what they are
posted on the site.
- Question:
- What information does Basket
City, USA ® require from me about the baskets
I am offering for sale?
- Answer:
- When you submit a listing to us - we need to know the
following information about the baskets you wish to sell:
- If they have been exposed to a smoking environment
- we will not purchase them. Our buyers require baskets that have been
in non-smoking environments because the wood absorbs the smoke smell.
- For each basket list the following:
- condition - (stored since purchase, displayed only,
used)
- accessories - (liner? protector? product card?lid?
tie-on? handle tie?)
- asking price - important - we must have your asking
price on each item.
- Question:
- How do I know how much to ask
for my baskets? What are they worth?
- Answer:
- We suggest that you purchase a
Bentley Guide as a reference tool to assist you in determining what
you originally paid for your baskets. We are unable to provide estimates
on your collections without having personally inspected each item being
offered for sale. That is why we are unable to 'price' your collection. YOU
are the best judge of what condition your baskets are in ~ We have found
that most collector's have an idea of what they want for their baskets in
the first place and it saves time for all parties involved if you price
the baskets at what you want to sell them.
- Question:
- If Basket City, USA® is unable to purchase my baskets, what other
sources can I use to sell my baskets?
- Answer:
- You may wish to consider our
Online Auction Consignment Service or an advertisement in your local newspaper.
